Obverse description Crowned royal cypher of Christian IV (C4) occupies the central field, with the date divided at the sides of the monogram, typically displaying only the last two digits flanking the cipher. A mintmark appears at the lower right of the monogram. The crown surmounting the cipher is rendered in a bold, simple style characteristic of early 17th-century Danish hammered coinage.
