Saimaluu-Tash is one of the largest petroglyphic sites in Central Asia, with an estimated 90,000 carved images scattered across a high-altitude plateau in the Fergana range at roughly 3,000 meters elevation. The site spans multiple prehistoric periods, with the oldest carvings dated to the Bronze Age. Kyrgyzstan nominated it for UNESCO World Heritage status, and the coin series commemorating national heritage sites — issued in base metal for circulation — was a deliberate policy to embed these sites into everyday commerce rather than confine them to collector silver.
