| Obverse description | King Christian II is depicted enthroned in full regalia, facing forward, holding a scepter in his right hand and the globus cruciger in his left, set upon a large and elaborately decorated Gothic throne. The enthroned effigy is contained within an eight-lobed double-line frame, a distinctive architectural border characteristic of early sixteenth-century Scandinavian hammered coinage. A beaded inner circle separates the central device from the surrounding legend, which runs along the outer rim in uncial Latin characters. The overall composition reflects the Flemish-influenced engraving style prevalent at the Malmö mint during this period. |
