| Reverse description | A patriarchal or Latin cross mounted on four steps occupies the center of the field, flanked on each side by a standing figure holding a staff or scepter; the composition closely imitates official Byzantine solidus reverse types. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire design, with CONOB appearing in the exergue as a mint and purity mark denoting Constantinople and refined gold, though here produced by a Germanic workshop in imitation thereof. |
