| Obverse description | Crowned heraldic shield quartered with the arms of Lower Saxony (horse), Chablais, Aosta (lion), and Duchy of Saxony, with the arms of Savoy superimposed at the center. A mintmark appears below the shield. From 1587, three heart-shaped leaves representing the County of Brehna were incorporated into the design. The legend surrounds the shield in the outer field, rendered in Latin. |
