This piece belongs to Peru's ongoing "Riqueza y Orgullo del Perú" commemorative series, which the Banco Central de Reserva has used since 2010 to cycle historical and cultural figures through the standard circulation bimetallic sol. Vidaurre was a Peruvian jurist and liberal thinker whose 1828 constitutional proposals were among the most radical of the early republican period — he advocated for abolishing ecclesiastical fueros at a moment when doing so was genuinely dangerous. He is rarely remembered outside legal history circles.
