Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Louis XV facing right, his hair arranged in loose curls with a ribbon tie visible at the nape of the neck. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style, engraved by Norbert Roettiers. The circular Latin legend reads LUDOV. XV. D. GRATIA. and runs along the inner border of the coin. A small mint privy mark appears below the bust truncation. The entire design is framed by a prominent milled or rope-style inner border.
