| Reverse description | A right-facing uniformed bust of Coronel Francisco Bolognesi, the celebrated Peruvian military hero, dominates the field, rendered in high relief with fine detail to his epaulettes, uniform buttons, and characteristic mustache and goatee. The legend CORONEL FRANCISCO BOLOGNESI arcs along the upper periphery in bold raised letters. To the left of the portrait, a facsimile inscription in italic script reads '... que no crean que mi deber tuvo precio.' — Bolognesi's famous declaration at the Battle of Arica. The commemorative legend BICENTENARIO DE SU NACIMIENTO is inscribed in bold raised letters along the lower periphery, marking the bicentennial of his birth. |

| Additional information |
Francisco Bolognesi died at the Battle of Arica on June 7, 1880, having reportedly refused a Chilean offer of honorable surrender with the words "I have sacred duties to fulfill, and I will perform them to the last cartridge." He was killed hours later when Chilean forces overran the Morro de Arica. The Peruvian government has commemorated him repeatedly across more than a century of coinage, making him one of the most consistently honored figures in the national series.
