Obverse description Seven-line inscription on a tablet surmounted by a radiant all-seeing eye, flanked on the left by a bunch of grapes and on the right by five ears of wheat, symbolizing prosperity and the fruits of the Republic. The tablet bears the legend affirming the equality of all men before the law, with the date 'L'AN II' at the foot. Dupré's engraver's signature appears at the base of the tablet. The overall composition is rendered in the Neoclassical style characteristic of the early French Republic.
