Obverse description The Peruvian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield with a vicuña at upper left, a cinchona tree at upper right, and a cornucopia at the base, all surmounted by a civic wreath. The shield is flanked by laurel and palm branches tied at the base. The date 1869 appears in the exergue, and the circular legend reads REPUBLICA PERUANA LIMA 9 DECIMOS FINO Y.B., indicating the Lima Mint and nominal silver fineness.

Reverse description A draped allegorical figure of Liberty is depicted seated facing left on a classical plinth, her right arm raised and holding a staff topped with a Phrygian cap, while a shield inscribed LIBERTAD rests at her side. A radiant sun disc appears at her feet in the lower field. The motto FIRME Y FELIZ POR LA UNION arcs around the upper periphery, and the denomination UN SOL is inscribed in the lower exergue.
