| Obverse description | Central device depicting the Bolivian national arms: a llama passant to left and a second llama passant to right, both couchant at the base of a tall palm tree, all set upon a grassy mound. An arc of nine five-pointed stars radiates above the arms in the upper field. The circular legend REPUBLICA BOLIVIANA is inscribed around the periphery, interrupted by dot stops, with the denomination, date, and assayer initials (e.g. 1S • 1856 • F • J •) arranged along the lower portion of the border. On varieties of KM#119.2 the denomination mark appears within the legend; earlier KM#119.1 issues omit it. |
