Additional information

Ulugbek — born Mirzo Muhammad Taragʻay in 1394 — was the Timurid sultan who built the Samarkand observatory in the 1420s and produced star catalogues accurate enough to remain in use by European astronomers into the 17th century. His assassination in 1449, ordered by his own son, ended the most scientifically productive reign in Central Asian history. This 1994 issue marks exactly 600 years from his birth, released in the same year Uzbekistan was consolidating its post-Soviet national identity around pre-Russian historical figures.

The KM#Pn1 designation flags this as a pattern — never formally circulated, produced in extremely limited quantity for presentation purposes.
