| Obverse description | Central field displays the ornate crowned Danish coat of arms superimposed upon a long-armed cross, the whole enclosed within a beaded or linear inner circle. The peripheral legend is divided into four segments by the arms of the cross, reading in Latin around the rim. The heraldic shield and crown are rendered in the elaborate decorative style characteristic of late sixteenth-century Danish coinage under Frederik II. |
