Reverse description The Danish royal coat of arms occupies the central field within a beaded inner circle, with the date split across the shield, one half of the year numeral appearing on each side of the arms. A peripheral Latin legend encircles the design outside the beaded border, identifying the mint of issue — either MONETA · NOVA : HAFNIENSIS ☘ for the Copenhagen Mint or MONETA · NOVA : RIPENSIS ☘ for the Ribe Mint. The legend translates as 'New Money of Copenhagen' or 'New Money of Ribe,' respectively. A trefoil mintmark appears within the reverse legend as a die or mint identifier. The overall composition is typical of mid-sixteenth-century Danish hammered billon coinage.
