Reverse description Central field displays the crowned arms of the Dutch Republic — a rampant lion to sinister holding a sword and a sheaf of seven arrows, set within a baroque shield surmounted by a royal crown. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads CONCORDIA.RES.PARVÆ.CRESCVNT, meaning 'By concord small things grow,' the celebrated motto of the United Provinces. The design is boldly struck in the characteristic style of Dutch provincial silver coinage of the seventeenth century.
