Obverse description Central field bears four Chinese ideograms arranged in a cruciform pattern, read top to bottom and right to left, giving the Qing imperial reign title and denomination. Decorative cloud motifs occupy each corner of the central square design. A surrounding border legend of additional Chinese characters records the regnal year of issue. The overall layout follows the traditional square-hole cash coin aesthetic adapted to a struck silver format.
