Additional information

Zimbabwe's bond coin series, introduced from 2014 onward, was a stopgap measure following the country's formal abandonment of the Zimbabwean dollar in 2009 and the subsequent shortage of small-denomination US coins in daily circulation. The Zumwalt class designation on this shilling refers to the USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000), the lead ship of the US Navy's most expensive destroyer program — a vessel that entered service in 2016 after years of cost overruns that nearly cancelled the entire class.

The pairing of a Zimbabwean bond coin with an American warship theme reflects the dollarization policy still governing the economy at time of issue.
