| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of King James I displaying the third bust type, characterized by a pointed beard and armored drapery, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The royal crown surmounts the portrait. A mint mark appears at the top of the inner circle above the bust. The surrounding legend, rendered in Latin, reads across the outer field identifying the king as ruler of England, Scotland, France, and Ireland. |

The overall composition is typical of Irish coinage of the Jacobean period. |
