Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George VI occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and facial features, as modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget. The portrait is of the mature, uncrowned type introduced following the omission of the IND:IMP title. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, interrupted by the portrait, and the whole is enclosed within a fine beaded border.
