| Reverse description | A stylised Zimbabwe Bird — the soapstone avian figure associated with Great Zimbabwe — is rendered in the centre of the field, its wings partially spread, with the date divided on either side at mid-field. The legend SOUTHERN RHODESIA arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination ONE SHILLING appears in the lower field, flanked by decorative stops. The initials KG, referencing the engraver George Kruger Gray, appear to the left of the denomination. The overall design reflects the restrained Art Deco idiom characteristic of British colonial coinage of the period. |
