| Obverse description | Uncrowned, bare-headed effigy of King George VI facing left, rendered in high relief after the portrait by Thomas Humphrey Paget. The king is depicted with neatly combed hair and a truncated neck, the engraver's initials 'HP' appearing discreetly below the bust truncation. The circular legend reads GEORGIVS VI REX IMPERATOR around the periphery, with the inscription commencing at the lower left and terminating at the lower right. The design is framed by a fine dentillated border. |
