A radiant star or compass rose device appears in the upper right field. The engraver's initials KG appear below the central figure. The bilingual legend SOUTH AFRICA and SUID-AFRIKA arches around the upper periphery separated by star ornaments, flanked by decorative devices at the base, with SHILLING inscribed along the lower border.
