| Obverse description | Crowned and draped bust of Queen Elizabeth I facing left, wearing an elaborate royal crown and richly ornamented dress with ruffled collar, her hair flowing behind. The effigy is rendered in fine relief characteristic of the early milled coinage produced under Eloye Mestrelle. The surrounding legend reads ELIZABETH·D·G·ANG·FRA·ET·HIB·REGINA, separated by mullets, within a finely milled border of radiating denticles. |
