Reverse description The royal shield of arms, quartered with the arms of England (three passant guardant lions), Scotland (rampant lion within double tressure), France (three fleurs-de-lis), and Ireland (harp), surmounted by a royal crown. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin motto legend encircling it between the inner and outer beaded borders. The overall design is characteristic of the Stuart heraldic tradition as employed on hammered coinage of the early Restoration period.
