Obverse description Draped bust of King Charles I facing left, crowned and wearing a ruff collar, rendered in the third bust style (type 2b). The effigy is positioned within an inner beaded circle, with the denomination numeral XII appearing in the field behind the king's head. The surrounding legend in Latin reads in full around the periphery of the coin, separated by stops and pellets.
