Obverse description Crudely hammered crown occupying the upper half of the field, depicted in a simplified heraldic style typical of siege coinage. Beneath the crown appear the crowned initials C and P (for Carolus / Charles and P likely referencing the denomination or maker), flanked by pellets. Roman numeral XII appears below, indicating the denomination of twelve pence. The overall design is characteristically rough in execution, struck from a hand-cut die under siege conditions. A beaded border partially surrounds the design.
