Reverse description Central device, enclosed within a beaded inner circle, depicts two birds contesting a worm suspended between them, a design distinguishing the 'With Birds' variety from the 'With Rings' issue. The scene is rendered in low relief with fine engraving consistent with Annapolis silversmithing craft. The peripheral legend ONE SHILLING and the date 1783 appear in bold raised Latin lettering around the beaded border. Small decorative rosette stops punctuate the legend. The dentilated outer rim frames the entire composition.
