Obverse description Plain card stock bearing printed letterpress text addressed from the Civil Commissioner, Bulawayo, instructing the bearer to be paid the face value of the stamp affixed to the card if presented on or after 1st August 1900, with redemption required no later than 1st October 1900. A handwritten signature in ink, attributed to Marshall Hole as Secretary, appears across the lower portion of the card. A circular purple official handstamp of the Administrator's Office, Bulawayo, is impressed over the signature area, and the printer's imprint of Chronicle Printing Works, Bulawayo appears at the foot.

Reverse description Reverse carries a perforated British South Africa Company 1 Shilling postage stamp affixed centrally to the plain card. The stamp is printed in green and blue, bearing the BSAC coat of arms at centre with the motto JUSTICE FREEDOM COMMERCE, the numeral 1 at each corner, and the inscription BRITISH SOUTH AFRICA COMPANY with SHILLING at the foot.
