Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Queen Anne, known as the 'Edinburgh' type, with flowing hair adorned with a ribbon, the truncation showing drapery over the shoulder. The mint mark 'E' appears below the bust, denoting the Edinburgh Mint. The surrounding legend reads ANNA DEI GRATIA, separated by pelleted stops. The portrait, engraved by John Croker, is rendered in a naturalistic Baroque style with fine detail in the hair and fabric. The coin's milled edge is visible at the rim.
