| Reverse description | Central field bears the royal name and mint epithet inscribed in bold Persian nastaliq calligraphy: 'Tahmasp' (طهماسب) in the upper register and 'Qazwin' (قزوین) in the lower register, identifying the issuing sovereign and the mint city. A secondary marginal legend, partially legible due to the irregular flan and die wear, runs around the periphery of the coin. The calligraphic execution is characteristically Safavid in style, with sweeping strokes and interlaced letterforms filling the available field. The reverse presents the same hammered, irregular flan as the obverse, consistent with mid-sixteenth century Safavid mint practice. |
