| Additional information |
Sultan Husayn, the last effective Safavid shah before the Afghan invasion that effectively ended the dynasty, reigned from 1694 to 1722 — a period of accelerating provincial disorder that makes attribution of mint output genuinely difficult. The Nakhchivan mint, situated in what is now Azerbaijan, operated intermittently under Safavid control as pressure from Ottoman incursions fluctuated across the Caucasian frontier. Album 2672 covers a broad emission, and Type A distinctions within the series are driven by calligraphic layout variants rather than any administrative reorganization.
