| Obverse description | Central field features a circular cartouche containing the royal Persian inscription in flowing Nasta'liq script, reading the royal titulature of Mozaffar od-Din Shah. The inscription is enclosed within a beaded inner border, with an outer wreath or decorative band framing the design. The date in AH numerals appears in the lower exergue below the central cartouche. |

Moẓaffar od-Dīn Shāh signed the constitutional decree in 1906 under enormous public pressure, making him the Qājār ruler who — almost accidentally — inaugurated Iran's constitutional monarchy. This shahi dates to four years before that rupture, when the court was still hemorrhaging silver to pay for the shah's three expensive European tours, trips widely blamed for accelerating the fiscal crisis that made the revolution inevitable.
