| Reverse description | The reverse presents a multi-line Persian inscription in Nasta'liq script reading 'Adama Allahu dawlatahu / Zarb Mashhad Muqaddas / 1216', recording the pious formula 'May God perpetuate his reign,' the mint name Mashhad Muqaddas (the Sacred), and the AH date 1216 (1802 CE). The text is arranged in horizontal registers across the field, with small pellet decorations filling the spaces between lines. The die is slightly irregular in shape, consistent with hand-hammered provincial minting practice of the Afsharid period. |
