Obverse description The obverse is entirely occupied by the Shi'ite kalima rendered in bold, densely interlaced Arabic calligraphy filling the field. The central declaration of faith — 'There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God, Ali is the Friend of God' — is surrounded by the names of the Twelve Imams arranged in the margins and field. The inscription is executed in a characteristic early Safavid nastaʿliq-influenced style, with deeply cut, irregular strokes reflecting the hammered production technique. No geometric border frame is present; the legends extend nearly to the coin's uneven edge.
