Additional information

Correggio's status as an independent signoria in northern Italy gave its ruling Siro I the right to strike coin, a privilege fiercely guarded by minor lords whose political survival often depended on demonstrating every attribute of sovereignty. Siro I ruled from 1616 until the extinction of the Correggio line in 1630, when the territory reverted to Este control — making the entire output of his mint a closed, dateable series.

The CNI references a cluster of die varieties across this type, suggesting modest but continuous production across the reign.
