Obverse description Central field bears the monogram PHI in large letters, surmounted by a royal crown with fleur-de-lis finials and arched bands. The surrounding legend, reading PHI HISPANIAR·IIII·REX·, identifies Philip IV as King of the Spains. The strike is characteristic of hammered billon coinage, with slightly irregular flan edges typical of the Milan mint production of this period.
