Reverse description The reverse displays a facing frontal figure of the winged Lion of Saint Mark, nimbed and depicted in the characteristic Venetian devotional style, with large spread wings filling the field. The lion is shown passant or guardant with stylized plumage rendered in low relief. A beaded inner border frames the design, and the surrounding circular Latin legend reads SANCTVS MARCVS VENE, invoking the Republic's patron saint. The overall execution reflects the small-module hammered coinage typical of the Venetian Zecca at the close of the sixteenth century.
