Reverse description The winged Lion of Saint Mark is depicted passant or rampant in the central field, with spread wings and facing left, rendered in low relief characteristic of hammered copper coinage. The circumferential legend SANCTVS MARCVS VENETVS encircles the lion, invoking the patron saint of Venice. The design reflects the standard iconographic programme of Venetian sesini of the period.
