| Additional information |
The Samoan sene denominations have seen irregular production since the country's 2011 decision to shift the international date line — a move that placed Samoa west of the line to align business hours with Australia and New Zealand, its primary trading partners. Low-denomination aluminium coinage from this period circulates thinly at best; the 1 sene's purchasing power is negligible, and these pieces tend to accumulate in jars rather than tills.
