Obverse description Central field features a highly detailed coiled dragon rendered in high relief, enclosed within a raised beaded inner circle. The dragon, a symbol of imperial authority, is depicted with flowing mane, scaled body, and dynamic posture. Surrounding the beaded circle in the outer annulus are Chinese-character legends arranged peripherally, reading 'Great Japan, Year 2 of Meiji' above and flanking, with the denomination '1 Sen' inscribed below the inner circle. Four raised dot ornaments punctuate the field at the cardinal points between the legends.
