Obverse description Central field bears the interlaced royal cypher 'FF' (for Friedrich Franz) rendered in an elaborate cursive script, surmounted by a grand ducal crown with arched bands and decorative finials. The monogram occupies the full face of the coin with no surrounding legend, the design filling the field to the rim. The crown is depicted in fine relief with a cross pattée at its apex.
