| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the quartered arms of Schleswig and Holstein, with the lion of Schleswig in the sinister half and the nettle-leaf of Holstein in the dexter half, surmounted by a ducal crown. The shield is flanked and embraced by an oak wreath with acorns, issuing from below. The engraver's initials H.L. appear at the base of the shield in the lower field. The border is formed by a toothed or reeded rim. |
