| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned heraldic shield of the Marquis of Saluzzo, surmounted by a crested helm from which issues a spread eagle as crest. The arms are rendered in the late medieval Italian style characteristic of hammered gold coinage of the period. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading MICHAEL ANT M SALVTIARV, identifying the issuing authority as Michele Antonio, Marquis of Saluzzo. |
