Obverse description Bearded bust of Pope Urban VIII facing right, wearing the papal cope richly decorated with ornate embroidery and the camauro, rendered in fine high relief with strong portraiture characteristic of early 17th-century Roman medallic art. The pontifical year numeral IIII appears at the lower left of the field. The surrounding Latin legend names the pontiff and his title, separated by pellets, running clockwise along the rim.
