Obverse description Central field features the papal coat of arms of Urban VIII (Maffeo Barberini), displaying the Barberini family shield charged with three bees arranged in an oval cartouche, surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter. The arms are framed by elaborate baroque scrollwork and mantling. The surrounding legend reads VRBANVS VIII PON MAX, separated by pellets, running along the inner border of a beaded outer rim.
