Obverse description Central field displays the Aldobrandini family coat of arms — a shield charged with six six-pointed stars arranged in two rows of three above a diagonal band — surmounted by a processional cross and a cardinal's galero with pendant tassels on either side. The papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter appear above the shield, symbolizing the authority of the Holy See during the sede vacante period. The entire heraldic composition is rendered in the bold, high-relief hammered style typical of early seventeenth-century Roman coinage. A circular Latin legend runs along the inner border of the coin, separated from the design by a beaded inner ring.
