Reverse description A fimbriated and lilied cross at center divides the field into four quarters, with the arms of the legate Cardinal Innocenzo Cybo displayed in the upper quarters and the civic arms of Bologna in the lower quarters. The design is characteristic of papal legate coinage struck at the Bologna mint during the early pontificate of Paul III. The reverse legend encircles the composition within a beaded border, separated by rosette stops. The heraldic devices are boldly struck in the hammered technique typical of Renaissance papal gold coinage.
