| Reverse description | A floriated cross composed of four fleurs-de-lis radiating from a central knop fills the inner field, the arms of the cross extending nearly to a beaded inner circle. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads XPS VINCIT XPS REGNAT XPS IMPERAT — the ancient Christus vincit acclamation invoking Christ as conqueror, king, and emperor — separated by pellets and running between the inner beaded circle and the irregular outer rim. The design is typical of French royal gold coinage of the period adapted for Milanese production. |
