Reverse description The reverse presents a boldly struck bust of Saint Paul the Apostle in right-facing profile, with curly hair and a full flowing beard rendered with exceptional sculptural detail. A halo is indicated by a thin circular line behind the head, identifying the figure as a saint. The apostle is depicted with a draped shoulder, the drapery rendered in naturalistic folds consistent with Hamerani's refined engraving style. The surrounding Latin legend SAN. PAVLVS. AP. — Sanctus Paulus Apostolus — runs along the upper and lower periphery between dot stops. The milled border frames the design cleanly, consistent with the high-quality production standards of the Rome Mint under Clement XI.
