Obverse description Central device consisting of a crowned quartered coat of arms enclosed within an ornate baroque cartouche, the escutcheon bearing the cross of Savoy on the central inescutcheon. Elaborate foliate and scroll ornaments in Renaissance-baroque style extend into the surrounding field, while a royal crown surmounts the shield at apex. The circumferential legend, reading C. EMANVEL. D.G. DVX. SABAVD., runs along the outer border in Latin, separated from the central device by an inner circle.
